Why does Unwind Cigars, LLC verify my age?

Unwind Cigars, LLC is dedicated to servicing our customers with premium tobacco products only if they meet the legal age requirement. We use the services of a third-party verification service to validate our customers ages and to verify their identity which fulfills the legal requirements for tobacco sales. The third-party verification company completes an age verification validation by using the personal information provided by the customer to search public records and other trusted data sources for this purpose. 

How does age verification work?

The third-party verification company used by us has access to public records which allows them to validate the information that you give us. Depending on the nature of your purchase, there is often a series of questions based on non-credit related facts about you as an individual. These facts are obtained by the company scanning public records from trusted data sources which contain information that would generally not be found in the event that your wallet or other identification is lost or stolen. 

Is the information that I provide secure? 

Yes. Secure Encryption Technology ensures the safe delivery of the information that you provide. In addition, the companies that provide third-party verification do not store your sensitive personal information or share, sell or give any data of yours to third parties. This practice assures you that any unauthorized party will not gain access to your sensitive personal information.

What happens if I cannot be verified by the age verification process?

There are a percentage of shoppers that may not be able to be verified due to the limited availability of publicly available information contained within the age verification data bases. If that is the case, you may request “manual verification” by responding to our e-mail and following the directions to upload your proof of age which will require a copy of either your driver’s license or some other form of government issued identification such as a Passport. You may also contact our customer service office by e-mail and phone to provide this information. If you are contacting us by e-mail or phone, we will require a copy of your driver’s license or the other form of government issued identification that verifies your identity, including your date of birth. Once we receive your information, your order will be shipped. All the information that you provided to us is confidential and, once verified will not be requested again. 

I live outside of the United States, can I be verified? 

The company that we use for third-party verification is based solely on U.S. record information and therefore verification of individuals residing outside the U.S. is unavailable. (Military Addresses outside of the US are acceptable).
